Shazam!

Well, well, well. Seems two people are now interested in purchasing my Alpine stereo.

Take that Mr. Tool!

Awwwwwwwwwwww

Thank God for Cuteoverload and its ability to calm my tormented mind.

And of course, my all time personal favourite:

Or to put it another way, at the beginning the week started like this:

And then, something went wrong on one of our sites:

Which then became a much bigger problem than I had imagined and I had realized that we had no one on site who could fix it:

My first instinct, was to hide.

But in the end, I was just annoyed.

However, I took whatever I could from the experience, and feel quietly serene in the knowledge I have gained.

And hell yeah y'all! NOW IT'S FRIDAY!!!

Will It Matter in Ten Years?

To everything,
Purge, purge, purge,
There is a season,
Purge, purge, purge.

I once had a reading with a psychic who said “If it won’t matter in ten years, don’t worry about it.”

For me, that’s easier said than done.

I really try to see the positive in things. I really do. But sometimes, life just wears you the fuck out. I’ve been told some positive changes are coming down the line at my job. I really hope so, cause with everything else I have going on, it’s a major fucking drag walking in everyday feeling like an after thought. Again, will it matter in ten years? No. Does it matter now? Boy howdy.

Sing it with me y’all: It’s not right, but it’s ok. I’m gonna make it anyway…

On the upswing, I’ve been on a major clutter busting campaign as of late. This is major for me because I’m one of those people who gets attached to things. I nearly had a nervous breakdown seven years ago after throwing out an old couch fer chrissakes.

A couple of weeks ago we started clearing out the basement and I haven’t looked back. Suddenly all those attachments that seemed unbreakable are non-existent. I’m finding all sorts of stuff that we just don’t use anymore and it’s actually feeling good to get it out of the way. In addition, I sold our reel lawn mower for $75 bucks! The fellow who bought it was so pleased with it and it had just been sitting in our basement doing nothing because our lawn is too lumpy to use it. It felt so good to know that it’s actually going to get used by somebody who appreciates it.

So far I haven’t sold my Alpine car stereo yet, but I’m hopeful. In six years the technology has become redundant and I can’t install it in my Forester. Of course, I get an email from some tool saying there are other ones for the same price with mp3 players. Oh and he’ll give me $30. Whatever. I’m hopeful I’ll get my price and if not, back to the drawing board. But if my price of $75 is so off, I wonder why they’re new on ebay for $150. Huh?

Tool.

But I do have some sense that this is an important step. I have to clear things off my slate and start fresh. I just have this sense that a while back, my life seemed mapped out for me and I haven't been able to adapt well to the fact that sometimes things don't go to plan. Now the future is open, and there's no use holding on to the past. In a way, all this stuff I haven't bothered to look at and deal with until now has been weighing me down.

So between my wheeling and dealing and general purging, we should be lean and mean in no time.

I can’t say the same for my ass, but Ragdoll and I have agreed to be buds on our new regime. I feel for her. She can no longer partake of nuts and lemme tell ya, that girl loves her some nuts.

For the record, I am of course referring to macadamias.

The Soundtrack Of Your Life

A while back, "Stevie" our fearless and exceptional coordinator sent out an email challenge. You were to play your digital music in random mode and fill in the "life stages" in the order the songs appeared.

I have to admit, I found this pretty funny [and uncanny] at the time.

I happened to stumble on the list [and my comments today] as I'd saved it to my desktop.

Mulling

Yesterday felt like the first sane day in a while. I met a friend for breakfast, had a reasonable day at work [reasonable in the sense it was normal and I had time to think] and I lucked out and got a kid's tent for 20 bucks to provide some shelter for the cats. I'm hoping by the end of the month that I can afford to board them at my vet's. Fingers crossed Dear Reader.

Otherwise, I am at present focusing on Hassan's advice and thinking about next steps. I have to admit that my job "jumped the shark" this week. [Thank you Ragdoll for letting me vent and thank you Indigo for your cyber hug and good wishes.] But there are changes afoot and I've decided that fundamentally I just need to get out of the loop. Why go somewhere else? It will be same song, different verse, and won't solve anything. The solution is getting out of the racket altogether. It's making that happen that I need to figure out.

Kittehs!

It occurred to me in my brilliance that I had been posting notices about my two most recent feline refugees everywhere but here!

So if you know if anyone in the GTA who could give these two little fellows a good home, help a blogger out y'all.

They are absolutely wonderful little cats who have been abandoned by the banjo brigade. The adopter will get them after a full check up and evaluation by my vet.

You can check them out here.

Bing!

It's 1:15 a.m. and I can't sleep. I keep thinking about stupid shit like:

The fact that the end of next month is the 10th anniversary of Lady Diana's death and how I wondered at the time what the world and my life would be like 10 years later.

And that I don't like the results.

The fact that the corporate sector really brings out the worst in human beings and how I feel like I'm the sacrificial lamb of my company. I seem to be the only one with a job that is what ever everyone else thinks it is.

That I'm exhausted.

And a bit scared because the Marine got laid off after we got back from Martha's Vineyard, which lends yet more credence to my uber paranoid theory that I am always punished for having taken a vacation.

That I still need to get my pictures from the aforementioned trip uploaded.

That my house and yard are a wreck and I'm too tired to clean either.

That the Bionic Woman series is coming this fall and that I'm really excited about it. It's like a cup of cocoa and a bwankey for my inner geek.

That my mum got through her third and final round of chemo last week but was too sick to talk on the phone and that I was pretty much a basket case by the weekend for not having heard her voice for nearly six days, which gave me a glimmer of what losing her would be like, the terror of which I shoved back in my heart like damp laundry that needs another 30 minutes in the dryer.

That I need to write, act, sing, do anything but what I'm doing for a living because I have reconciled myself to the fact that the desire to do so will never go away.

That I have to get new sneakers, get my ass to the gym and see if I can walk all the above off.

Sigh

Well let's see. It's 6:45 pm on a summer Friday and where am I? At work. What a clusterfuck of a week Dear Reader. Honestly, it couldn't end fast enough and now it seems it won't end at all. I'm waiting to hear back from a colleague in Calgary, who God love 'im is coming back to the office to help out with things.

How do I feel? Well, this sums it up nicely.

Tha strain y'all, tha strain.

Happy Anniversary

Last week, Friends, Romans hit its second anniversary. Funny, but it doesn't seem that long.

Ironically enough, I find myself without much to say.

Well not true, but what I could say really belongs in a journal. And these days, I just don't have much mental energy for writing.

Hope you'll bear with me Dear Reader. In the meantime, enjoy the following. Despite the somewhat trite intro, this performance at Live Earth is one of the best I've seen from Madonna in quite some time. Charity concerts are now a long way from Live Aid. Whoever thought at the time that they'd become the ultimate cliche?

But this reminded me that they can still have their moments of magic.

Pass Me A Long Tall Glass of WTF

I got this in an email entitled "Autocad 2008."

XVIII. The Northeast and Northwest Passages

Oh, I know. The snow. The effective snow.
Homeward into the howling woods, although
And trumpet at his lips;
nor does he castmarked with a dark stroke from the left, encroached

Glimmering of light:Escapees from the cold work of living,
they sit with their wives all day in the sun,
Will hear the storm-blast of his clarion. [Is this a metaphor for a fart? Z.]
The road, but not far enough ahead
Close at the end of distance the two
Chose
A kind of snow, which hesitates
It is as though I were at a second threshold

We'll Set About Ye

This is yet another example of why I love Glasgow so very much, and am proud, in my own way, to call it home. Ladies and Gentlemen, John Smeaton, the baggage handler who assisted a police officer in subduing one of the terrorists who rammed a Land Rover into Glasgow Airport.

Back From The Vineyard

Well I'm back from the Vineyard. I've got lots of pictures and stories to tell. Talk to you soon.
